Recipe 3: Chocolate Mug Cake

I made this dish last night as a quick snack. Though I don't really trust microwave mug dishes but I tried this one and it worked really well and I got exactly what I had hoped for.The author of the recipe i checked had put a special warning to not use this recipe on anything but a microwave. The recipe may vary with each microwave too.

Recipe name: Chocolate Mug Cake

  1. 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  2. 2 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  3. 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  4. 3 tablespoon granulated sugar (you can add more as 3 tbsp was also a little less for me.)
  5. 1/8 teaspoon salt (I did not put this ingredient)
  6. 1/4 cup + 1 tbsp. milk
  7. 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  8. mini chocolate chips (About 1 tbsp)


Steps to follow:-
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together dry ingredients.
  2. Whisk in the milk and vegetable oil until all ingredients are combined and batter has no clumps.
  3. Pour batter into a microwave-safe mug. The original author used a 14 ounce mug which filled my cup half. leave about 1/4th of the cup empty to allow the cake to rise.
  4. Add mini chocolate chips. Just drop it in the middle.
  5. Microwave mug cake for 70 seconds on high. The time varies with the consistency you expect. I wanted a little spongy cake and thus cooked it for 2 minutes.
  6. Carefully remove from microwave. It will be hot.
  7. Enjoy!
